The US Women's National Team defeated rival Japan 2-0 in the final leg of a pair of friendlies. The game was called in the 76 minute due to heavy rains and lightning in the area.
Julie Johnston opened the scoring in the 27th minute off an Allie Long pass through the box. Alex Morgan added to her impressive 2016 with another goal in the 62 minute after a beatiful cross from Crystal Dunn. Alex Morgan now has 6 goals in 5 games in 2016.
The USWNT sought a win after settling for a 3-3 draw vs Japan just three days prior. The US lost in the battle of possession but got off an impressive twelve shots, seven on goal. Japan managed just three shots with one on goal.
The USWNT next tune-up before the 2016 Rio Olympics will come versus South Aftrica on July 9 at 1PM ET and will air on Fox Sports 1.

The US Women's National Team gave up a late equalizer against 10-women Japan to settle for a 3-3 draw. This match signified the first of two friendlies between the two World Cup finalists. Japan got off to a quick start by jumping all over the US with high pressure and took a shocking 2-0 lead. The US had only given up one goal thus far in 2016 and the last time the USWNT had trailed by two goals was 2004 versus Denmark.
Alex Morgan would pull one back in the 27th minute off a nice cutback cross from 18-year old Mallory Pugh. The first half ended with the USWN trailing 2-1.
The match shifted in the second half when Japanese player Yuki Ogimi was sent off in the 57th minute after receiving her second yellow. The USWNT would capitalize minutes later off an Alex Morgan header Tobin Heath free-kick.
The USWNT took the lead for the first time when in the 89th minute Kelley O'Hara sent a ball soaring into the box, the Japanese keeper misplayed the the ball missing her punch, and Lindsey Horan somehow got her head onto it, sending the ball into the back of the net. The lead was short lived however as the Japanese pushed forward in extra time and found an equalizer in the 93rd minute.
