Edu started his pro career with Toronto before moving on to the Scottish Premier League, Premier League and the Super Lig of Turkey. Edu returned to the MLS with the Union in 2014. Edu has 46 appearances for the US Men's National Team with the last coming in 2014. Rumors were that Jurgen Klinsmann was looking at bringing Edu back into training in January but due to Edu's injury called Tony Tchani of the Columbus Crew instead.
